Introduction

Unsealed roads Maintenance and Management have been issues that I have been at grips with for some eight years.

At the start of my career as a Civil Engineer these were some of the questions that I had.....

>> Question 1

How do I work out for a network of unsealed roads the expenditure and resources required to meet certain service levels so that our organisation can see the impacts quickly at budget time?

>> Question 2

How do I deal with unsealed road complaints that will make my job easier and less stressful when I get the question “why did we grade this road” or “why will this road not be graded?

>> Question 3

Are there simply and practical ways to improve the way maintenance is completed on unsealed roads, so that I maximise the money that I have available?

 >> Question 4

How do I simply keep a record of what unsealed road works have been completed and when, so that when I’m asked “what we have completed” I have the answers?

 >> Question 5

Is there training that can help my council move from a reactive to programmed approach to unsealed road maintenance?

Over those last eight year I have worked hands on with 6 local Councils (follow the hyperlink to the left to get a detailed description of the works completed by myself for these councils) in Queensland, Australian developing and refining simple and practical solutions to answer these questions.

This web site was set-up to share what we have learnt so that like me you don’t have to learn by trial and error.
